Limited Number of Spaces:
We purposely want to keep the groups small so that each participant can get the personalized attention he deserves, while benefiting from a group environment. To do this, we currently only allow between 3 to 7 Young Men per group (age 10 and up). So, if you are interested, please make sure to register your son with us and your school.
If we don’t currently have space for him, we will keep him in mind, in case another young man leaves or is removed from a CG School Unit.
Program Last School Year:
The CG Program will only meet within the guidelines and the timeframe of the host School Year. Additional After-school sessions and Summer Programs may be available, but this will not be a requirement for any student that attends an in-school CG Mentoring Program.
45 Minute Weekly Sessions w/Assignments:
Every CG Mentoring Session will be scheduled to last from 45-60 mins max. Each participant will be given workbook sections and assignments to complete for the next session along with in-school projects by the school administration or teachers. Any participant that does not complete their assigned workbook sections or in-school assignments or projects, will gain negative participation points.
Any participant that reaches a max of 5 Red Points will be removed from the in-school unit and their spot offered to another young man. To see how points are earned, please review our 5 Point System Guide by CLICKING HERE NOW
Free CG Program Workbooks:
As a way to give back, The CENTRY League will provide a FREE CG Workbook to each participant, for each of the 7 modules they attend. Once they finish a module, a new CG workbook will be provided for the next module.
They will also receive a FREE copy of the DAD Workbook for the DAD Module. To see a list of every workbook in the CG Mentoring Program, CLICK HERE >>
Military/Camouflage Gear:
As part of the Heroic Soldier Mindset, we would each of our Little Brothers to wear the same uniform or outfit to meetings. This would include camouflage pants, black boots or sneakers along with the CENTRY Choose Greatness T-shirt on the days of their mentoring sessions and their in-school projects or assignments.
When the boys see themselves wearing the same uniform, it will help give them a sense of unity and belongs within the CG Program and what it stands for as Heroic Soldiers that Serve, Honor & Protect.
This would help to create a sense of unity between the students that participate with the program, and it allows them to be seen by their own peers and classmates as having chosen to act positively in school. This would also help give them a sense of belonging as they participate in the CG Program. Visit the CENTRY Online Store to view CG T-shirt’s, Drawstring Bag and suggested Camouflage Gear and Shoes by CLICKING HERE >>
Points and Pushups Policy:
This “Points and Pushups Policy” is our Accountability System of Consequence and Reward for every guy that participates in the CENTRY League and The Choose Greatness Program. This policy allows guys to earn Points and Rewards for their positive behavior, while allowing them to earn Negative Points and Perform Pushups as a result of their negative behavior. We understand that a life of Greatness by Serving, Honoring and Protecting others is NOT for everyone.
This Policy is based on accountability, not perfection. To learn more about the Points and Pushups Policy, CLICK HERE >>
Be Available:
Please make yourself available to interact with your son’s mentor so that any issues that they may experience either at home or in school can be discussed with you, within the group and/or one on one with your child.
We believe that a son that knows that their parent can be contacted and is involved with their mentoring process has a better chance of success in the program.
Join the Mission:
Please join us in our mission to create a Heroic Soldier Mindset in the life of your son. To do this, we encourage you to begin to expect your son to act in the following ways:
- To serve you and others;
- To honor you and others;
- To respect you and others;
- To respect their siblings, and;
- To begin to show a positive overall attitude.
If your son Does Not operate by these standards, please remind him of his participation within the Choose Greatness Program, let him know you expect better from him and please let us know about it. So, please be familiar with the content located in each CG Module that your son will receive and hold him accountable to its content and standards.
As his Mentors and Big Brothers, our ability to assist your son will be much more effective when you as their parent, or guardian, joins us in actively inspiring your son to Choose Greatness in his life. So, please hold your son accountable to the concepts of greatness at home, that we will hold them to at school and within the program.
Reward Positive Participation:
Please find ways to reward your son for their positive interaction with the Choose Greatness Program. As we send regular updates about your child’s involvement either through email or text message, please let them know that you have interacted with us and reward them for any positive comments or feedback you get from us and discuss any details with them you wish. Also, this “reward” does not necessarily need to have any monetary value to it.
This “reward” can be something like a little more time playing their game, 30 more minutes playing outside, or simply saying to them, “Congratulations on what you’re doing.” or “Great Job Son!” This type of reward can go a long way coming from you as their parent or guardian. We don’t want you to “pay” them for doing the right thing, because the right thing is its own reward, but you can encourage their positive interactions and decisions.
Areas of Development:
To help us understand and mentor your son, we ask you to give us a list of 3 to 5 Areas of Development that we can work with him on while they’re a part of the CG Program that would help them become more successful in their life both at home and at school.
Be Patient & Encouraging:
If your son has never heard of the concepts of service, honor, kindness, etc. that we discuss with him within the CG Program, it may take a little bit of time before he begins to show these concepts in his life.
So, please be patient with him and encourage him to act like a Heroic Soldier in line with what he is learning within the CG Program.
Examine His Inputs:
As a parent, please be mindful of what types of inputs your son has around him as far as the music he listens to, the friends he has, the tv shows he watches, etc. If we within the CG Program encourage him to Choose Greatness, but the inputs he has at home are negative and destructive, it’ll be more difficult for him to experience positive change in his life.
Share Your Concerns:
Please share any concerns that you have around your son and his behavior that you may see that others don’t. As their parent or guardian, you will have access to behaviors that may be hidden from us as mentors, leaders or big brothers.
So, with that, please share your thoughts and your concerns so that we can address them if appropriate and be there as an extra layer of support for you and your son.
Don’t Force It:
The CENTRY Mindset to inspire guys to live and act as a Heroic Soldier will not be easy for some. It’s a mindset that fights against the selfish and destructive trends that a lot of our children encounter in music, TV, social media, peers and friends. So, for some young men, they may quite frankly NOT WANT to be a part of the CENTRY vision and mission, and we respect that. In these instances, it is not wise to try and force them to be something they don’t want to be. In these cases, we will respect their choice and part ways while leaving the door open for them to join us in the future if their desires change.
So with that said, if your son is not ready to truly accept the Heroic Soldier Mindset don’t try and force it by making him join us if he’s not ready. We strongly believe that it’s our choices that make us great and it’s important that your son chooses to be a part of the greatness program. If you would like to discuss this with your sons Big Brother and Mentor, please feel free to do so.
Program Ground Rules:
For additional information on what we will expect from every boy that participates within the CG Mentoring Program, please see the Program Ground Rules on the “Resources and Info” Page by CLICKING HERE >>
Participation is a Privilege:
The CENTRY Brand and The CG (Choose Greatness) Program is not for everyone. Participating with the CG Program is a privilege that must be honored and respected. Understanding that we only have a limited number of Mentors and spots available for each CG School Unit, it’s important that every participant is serious about this opportunity.
If it becomes clear that your son clearly doesn’t value his time as part of a CG Unit, he will be replaced with someone who wants to be a part of the CG Brotherhood Unit.
Donate and Support:
As part of the Choose Greatness School Mentoring program there are certain things, we cannot do without donations or financial support. For example, if a mentor wanted to bring pizza or snacks to a meeting, it would help if he had the extra finances to do so. As we grow, we plan to use dues or fees to help cover these costs in the future. In the meantime, if you would like to donate to have snacks available for your sons meeting, please let us know.
Also, if you would like your son to attend an after-school session or participate in a summer program there will be an extra fee required to help provide for locations, transportation (if needed), materials and any snacks or meals. So, any donations would be appreciated for your son or another young man that you may want to sponsor into the CENTRY program.
